Applications & Forms/Agreements

Volunteers are the heart of this organization! From the board to our fosters, applications team to our web team, transporters to buddies – we are ALL volunteers.

There are many types of volunteers needed to make this rescue function. Regardless of how much or how little time you have to spare, there is a need that you can fulfill.

Applications Team and Buddies:
If you enjoy working with people, consider joining our applications team or becoming a Buddy. The applications team processes the adoption & foster applications. Initial contact phone calls are made to learn more about the applicant. Verification of veterinary care is completed. A home visit is completed to ensure the applicant has a good environment for a Horse/Mule/Donkey to live. You may also like to help by completing home visits in your area.

Once an applicant is approved, a Buddy is assigned. The Buddy works with an approved applicant to help them find a Horse/Mule/Donkey that is a good match for them. The Buddy knows the needs of the available Horse/Mule/Donkey & the desires of the applicants & helps coordinate contact with the organization farm or foster. Buddy work is both fun and rewarding as you are part of so many “Happy Endings”.

Transporting
Help move Horse/Mule/Donkey to/from their foster/adopter. See our Transport page for additional information & application

Fundraising
Do you have a knack for outreach/philanthropy & enjoy connecting with others? Help is needed in all aspects of fundraising. Without it, we couldn’t survive as a rescue.

Fostering
If you love working with Horse/Mule/Donkey and have the time and patience to work with a Horse/Mule/Donkey in need – consider fostering. It is so rewarding to see the personality start to shine once they begin to feel comfortable. It is a great feeling to know you made a difference in their life. Check out the Fostering links for more info.

These are just a few of the many areas where Dragon Stables Equine Center can use your help.

Adopt

With-out our adopters, we can’t make way for the new unique individuals needing help. Whether it be adopting one of the individuals we have had for a while our participating in our Pasture to Pasture program, we thank our adopters for all the years of care they have provided our vulnerable equines.

Pasture-to-Pasture

P2P – an assisted placement platform that helps horseowners find new homes (permanent or temporary) for their Horses. DSEC believes Horses that need a new home do best if they can be transitioned directly from their current home to a new, loving home and avoid the stress of a stay at a shelter/rescue. **Wish List (Hopeful Owner) must also fill out an adoption application.

Foster

Not ready to take the leap to adopt or maybe not quite ready for ownership, why not foster? Our foster homes provide unique one on one (or maybe a couple more) care to some of our more vulnerable horses or maybe some that just need a little more space to decompress that they can’t get in our herd setting at the Center.

Sponsor

Can’t Adopt or Foster; live in a place that isn’t horse friendly but still want that unique feeling of “ownership”? Why not sponsor a sanctuary equine; our sanctuary horses are ones that can’t be safely transitioned to an adopting family due to chronic illness or injury, some just need a unique stable feeding regime due to ongoing health issues. Sponsors are the foundation of our organization, they provide a stable foundation for our ability to care for the equines entrusted to our care.

Volunteer

Can’t commit to any of the above? We love volunteers – if you are close by and want to help out let us know, if you live far away, we have “remote” options from Grant writing to creating letters requesting donations and even event planning. Some of our most important volunteers are our “Buddies” they are a unique group that helps approve Adopters and Fosters by checking references; they also help match our Pasture to Pasture horses with carefully selected homes. Buddy work can all be done 99% remotely – Site visits are in person.

Donate

Can’t commit to any of the above? We love a good share from our social media and a share of our links below. The herd also appreciates a few dollars every now and then – it takes a village to grow.

$10 provides a bale of hay; $30 provides a bag of feed; $40 provides a bag of Ration Balancer; $45 provides a blacksmith visit; $100 provides a Round Bale; $150 provides a Vet visit or a dental visit; $240 provides a 21 bale bundle.
