At Dragon Stables, we’ve always had a soft spot for aging mares who need a true sanctuary. Spirit is exactly that kind of soul. She has endured so much—pulled from a kill pen, shuffled through rescues, transported halfway across the country—and carries a long-term lameness that makes adoption nearly impossible. For her, we are opening our sanctuary pasture, a place where special mares live out their days in peace, safety, and love.

But Spirit won’t be arriving alone. Alongside her comes Benji, a younger gelding with soundness issues of his own. Though he struggles now, we’re determined to give him every chance at healing. He’ll head to Dr. Brad’s vet-guided rehabilitation facility for a full evaluation and treatment plan. If his lameness can’t be resolved, Benji will still have purpose here—joining our Barn Buddies program as a cherished unmounted companion.

🐴 The Goal:

We need to raise $3,000 to cover Spirit and Benji’s care and rehabilitation costs through January 1st. This ensures their feed, vet visits, and safe transition into the sanctuary herd.
